Rob Shellow is senior advisor for security management, crisis response and risk assessment of Global Journalist Security. A storied expert with a reputation for candor, Rob has advised major private corporations and top government organizations on matters including civil rights. His firm, IMAR Corporation, has consulted on corporate aviation, maritime and mass transit security, and has managed worldwide security for the Black & Decker Company, and developed Crisis Response systems for PPG Industries, Alcoa and Phillips Petroleum. Decades before, Rob served as research director for the Presidential Kerner Commission or National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders. “At the center of the radical disorder,” concluded Shellow’s research team, were conditions that were “the source of the deepest bitterness.” Rob conceived and directed an experimental police district in Washington, D.C. and subsequently advised several police organizations on handling demonstrations and civil disturbances. He also directed seminal research on mass transit security. He is co-author of Issues in Law Enforcement, and has written many journal articles on enforcement and security. Rob is a founder, former board member and president of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants. He has a Ph.D in Psychology from the University of Michigan.
