Rod Seward is safety advisor director for Global Journalist Security. Rod spent 16 years in the British military, including 12 years as a Royal Marines Commando, and also served as a Royal Marines Policeman. Besides developing combat skills and experience, he conducted investigations and provided close protection. Seward later served as a Hostile Environments and Emergency First Aid trainer for the U.K-based Centurion Risk Assessment Services, training international news media and NGO’s. Rod also has extensive experience as a safety advisor navigating civil unrest and natural disasters, and advising clients on office and home security matters. He has been deployed in the field advising major media organizations, nonprofit groups and other clients in nations including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Israel, Gaza, The West Bank, Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania, Montenegro, Mexico, Bolivia, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haiti. He has been accompanied TV crews and other journalists at protests in North America during G4, G8, NATO and APEC summits, and the spring 2015 riots in Baltimore.
